Jason Mateo

The more I photograph newborns the more I learn. It takes a lot of patience (which I have), and a lot of time. Also, the photographer needs to dress light and comfortable. When you warm a room for a newborn, whether they are clothed or nude, for the photographer it gets hot.

So, light clothing and a rubber band for the hair then by the time you've finished photographing, the baby still looks better than you. But that is OK. Whatever it takes to get such precious pictures is worth it.

Especially with this little guy which everyone will see more of. Let me introduce my first grandchild, Jason Mateo.

Maternity Pictures

I love taking maternity portraits. This special person is 8 months pregnant. We photographed in the baby's room using natural light from the window. This set of images are just part one of a series. Stay tuned for more portraits of the expecting couple.

Jada

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Jada, an aspiring young model. A very beautiful little girl with a smile to match.

Clarisse's Family

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Clarisse and her family. Sometimes it is hard to pick which pictures I want to post to my blog, but I wanted to get one of each. However, my favorite one (and a pose I'm very guilty of repeating) is Clarisse with her oldest daughter. I look forward to having the opportunity of photographing her family again.

Cali

Today, I think that I photographed my toughest client. 1 week old Cali. Why do I think she was my toughest? Because Cali had her mind set that she was not going to sleep through her photo shoot. Once she went to sleep, she was also determined to stay on her stomach the entire time. Any movement or attempt to roll her over, she let us know quickly that she was the star today and it was her way or the highway.

She was a challenge but overall worth the wait. Cali is soooo beautiful!

Ruth & Carlos, November 6, 2010

Families. I love families. Especially when you've photographing weddings. It almost feels as if you're one of the family. Back in August (a previous blog), I photographed Maria and Herbert's wedding. Less than 2 months later, I received a call from Carlos, Maria's brother, who was in search of a photographer.

Carlos and Ruth had a beautiful and simple church ceremony. Following the ceremony, the three of us boarded their SUV limo and drove off to Wheaton Regional Parks Brookside Garden. Between the hours of 4 and 5PM, the parks fall colors seemed to show the best. Some photographs I added a little 'tweek' just to pick up those beautiful colors that nature gives us once a year.
